Joan Louise “Bee” Willison, 86, of Battle Creek passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Glenn Arbor Hospice residence in Battle Creek.
A celebration of Bee’s life will take place at 3:00 PM on Friday, July 16, 2021 at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City. Visitation will also be held at Lighthouse on Friday, July 16, 2021, from 1:00 PM until the time of the 3:00 PM service. Interment will follow at Burr Oak Cemetery in Athens.
Bee was born October 30, 1934 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Rollo and Gertrude (Harry) Miller. She grew up in Battle Creek, attended Lakeview Schools and on November 1, 1952 she married William “Dyde” Willison at the First Presbyterian Church in Battle Creek. They both came of age in the 1950s, loved Marlon Brando movies and belonged to a classic car club; attending many car shows in their restored 1937 and 1956 Chevrolets. Both enjoyed attending their kids sporting events and other activities. He preceded her in death in 1994.
Bee was a homemaker who loved her kids, home and family. She also enjoyed tending her beautiful flower garden, country music, eating out, QVC/HSN jewelry shopping and being “mom and grandmom” to furbabies: Tippy Reno, Theodore E. Bear, Hochi Min, Duchess, Sugar, Buzzie, Nemo and Whitey, who brightened her life.
Survivors include Bee’s children, Bill Willison of Battle Creek and Susie (Mark) Ruggles of Battle Creek, a sister, Wanda Jean Ashby of Bronson; several nieces and nephews; an adopted grandson and her beloved cats, Nemo and Whitey Willison.
In addition to her husband, Bee was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Vern and Rollo Miller, Jr.
