David D. Tompkins, 85, of Coldwater, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at his home. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Batavia Cemetery. Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.
David was born December 27, 1935 in Sherwood, MI to Donald & Leona (Oldenburg) Tompkins. He married Ruth Jeanette Smith on September 3, 1955 in Coldwater, MI.
Mr. Tompkins was a truck driver for most of his life working for Indian Head, Consolidated Freight, Yellow Trucking and Roadway, retiring in 1998. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, working in his yard and constructing jigsaw puzzles.
David is survived by his wife Jeanette, his children Linda (Jeff) Noblit of Coldwater, David (Debra) Tompkins of Byron Center, Douglas Tompkins of Coldwater, Terri (Donald) Ostrander of Coldwater, his sisters Jean (Alan) Stevens of Eureka Springs, AK and Marie Duke of Portage; 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
