COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County United Way’s Power of the Purse will honor Katy Olmsted-Lenhardt and Lisa Tubergan as Women of the Year in Business and Service, respectively, during their events scheduled for next Saturday, July 24.
Olmsted graduated from Coldwater High School in 1999 and worked summers at Pifer’s Rental while attending Glen Oaks Community College and Central Michigan University. During that time, she reconnected with, and eventually married, high school classmate Jake Lenhardt. The couple jumped at the opportunity to buy Pifer’s Rental in 2005, and the business, now known as A Grand Occasion, has grown to become an important part of numerous events in Branch County.
Tubergan runs The Shed, where she and her husband, Jim, sell fresh baked goods and donate the proceeds back to the community to help those in need. She has also led natural disaster relief drives through Hands of Hope.
This year’s Power of the Purse fundraiser on July 24th will include an afternoon event from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and an evening event from 4-8 p.m. Tickets for each event are available for $35 apiece, and proceeds will go toward the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which provides free books for children from birth to age 5. More information is available at the Branch County United Way website and Power of the Purse Facebook page.
