Joyce was born July 23, 1942 in Burlington Township to Remmert “Raymond” and Helen (Woldendorf) Herwich. When she was 19 months old, the family moved to Athens. She attended Athens Community Schools and graduated in 1960 from American Standard Correspondence School. On October 15, 1959 Joyce married Gary Lee Miller, who survives. They shared 61 years of marriage. Joyce was active in the Women of the Church of God at Burlington Church of God, holding offices including president of the group. She farmed with her husband on the family farm, including their centennial property that has been owned by the Miller Family since 1847.
In 1988 Joyce went to work for a laundry in Coldwater and later worked at the Li’l Play Ark daycare in Tekonsha. In 1994, the farms were sold except for the centennial property where the Millers lived at the time of Joyce’s death. After the farms were sold Joyce drove for the Amish and made many Amish friends.
Joyce enjoyed spending time with her family and caring for her grandchildren and for her great-grandsons. She enjoyed hotdog roasts with her family and church family as well as trips up north.
In addition to her husband, Gary, Joyce is survived by a daughter, Lynda Lee (Rod) Emmel of Union City; granddaughters LeAnna Lynn (Jen) Seadin of Union City and Londa Joy (Randy) Halder of Battle Creek; great-grandchildren Beau & Parker Vandenburg and Cooper Halder; daughter-in-law Suellen Miller of Osseo; three step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jody Lynn Miller; an infant daughter, LeAnna Lynn Miller (1962) and her siblings, Tracy (Bill) Waterhouse and Garrett (Yvonne) Herwich.
