COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Just like other businesses these days, LifeCare Ambulance is having issues with staffing.
Regional Vice President Steve Frisbie told the Branch County Board of Commissioners during their work session on Thursday scholarships continue to be offered to EMT’s.
They also try to help out employees during their training.
Frisbie says the K.C.C. fall paramedic program is overfilled for the second straight year and while he feels there is light at the end of the tunnel, there will be staffing problems for a few more years.
Frisbie says they have done retention and recruiting bonuses for staff members. He along with Branch County Emergency Management Coordinator Tim Miner have even pulled some shifts on ambulance crews to make up for the staffing shortfall.
LifeCare Ambulance is a non-profit service providing 9-1-1 emergency medical services to six counties in Southwest Michigan.
wait times may have gotten better but a couple of their EMT’s are a liability. They came for a nonemergency Friday . we told them we wanted dad to go to Hillsdale the male told me twice it aint gunna happen and that Hillsdale marshall and kalamazoo are all full then when called out on his BS he got mad at me for telling my dad that if they drop him anyplace other than Hillsdale tell the hospital that you want seen in Hillsdale. The “male” put his arm in the air with his thumb up and yelled at me ok ,ok we got it ,we got it. The girl was no help she just kept giggling spuring the male on. They didnt have it they dumped dad at promedica. So tell me if all of the hospitals around coldwater are” full” (They werent I called) why would i want them at promedica the empty one. I know the hiring pool is low but i would think you would take better care to hire people that know their job and the rules.
