COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency reported the biggest one day surge of new Branch County COVID-19 cases on Thursday in nearly a month.
The Health Agency says there 18 new cases reported on Thursday after nine were recorded on Wednesday.
That brought the total of new cases reported this week in Branch County up to 37 after just 16 cases were reported during the week of July 12 and nine cases were reported between July 5 and 11.
Thursday was also the first time one day new case numbers in Branch County had gotten into double digits since 12 were reported on June 24. It’s also the highest one day total since 14 cases were reported on June 22.
The latest statistics from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services shows that 43-point-4 percent of Branch County residents have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
Just under 5-point-1 million Michigan residents 16 years old and older, or 62-point-nine percent of the state’s population, have gotten at least one COVID-19 vaccination.
About another 576,000 residents need to be vaccinated in order for the state to reach its goal of 70 percent.
