CLARENDON TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A Tekonsha man suffered a severe head injury Sunday morning when his motorcycle struck a deer in northeastern Branch County.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department says 49-year-old David Briegel was heading west on East Girard Road west of Dean Road just after midnight when he struck the deer.
The Sheriff’s Department says Briegel did not report the accident. He was taken to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital by a friend at about 5:00 a.m..
Branch County Sheriff Deputies were notified at 5:47 a.m. by the hospital.
Briegel was taken to Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo by ambulance for his injury.
The crash is still under investigation. The Sheriff’s Department says Briegal was not wearing a helmet.
