Lois Marie Thomas, 77 of Coldwater passed away Monday, July 26, 2021 at the Laurels of Coldwater.
In following her wishes, cremation has taken place and the family will have a private burial at Card Cemetery at a later date. The family was cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.
Lois was born December 18, 1943 to Melvin and Marjorie (Barrett) Veld in Kalamazoo. She was a 1962 Portage High School graduate. Lois first married J. Roger Alldredge, and he was killed in an auto accident 2 years later. She later married John Akins, and that marriage ended after 18 years in divorce. On November 5, 1998 she married James Thomas. Together they created many memories. Lois was a hardworking woman, spending many years working at the American Legion Post #52, Bob’s Party Store, and Walmart until her retirement.
Lois has been living in Coldwater for 50 plus years. She and James wintered in Panaffkee, FL for over 20 years. Lois was a Lake Panaffkee VFW Life Member and also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Eagles, and Moose Lodge. She enjoyed going to Florida each year.
Lois is survived by her husband of 22 years, James Thomas of Coldwater; her son J. Robert (Gretchen) Alldredge of Coldwater; her daughter Tami Wendorf of Bronson; four grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her two brothers; her three sisters; and her grandson Zachary Alldredge.
