COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The case of a North Adams man who allegedly threatened another man on July 9 with a gun and then tried to run from police has been bound over to Branch County Circuit Court.
34-year-old Chad Alan Truitt waived his District Court preliminary exam on Tuesday. He is scheduled to be arraign in Circuit Court on August 23.
Truitt had a previously listed address in Muskegon. He has been charged with receiving and concealing a stolen weapon, assault with a dangerous weapon and assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer as well as a felony firearms count.
According to Branch County Court documents, Truitt allegedly threatened a man who had given him a ride from Hastings. Truitt was spotted by police on East Chicago near the I-69 overpass. Authorities say he tried to run from Coldwater Police and the Michigan State Police but was captured and placed in custody behind Buffalo Wild Wings.
A handgun that Truitt allegedly had was later found by a Michigan State Police K-9 along the path he had run. A records check found the gun had been stolen.
