Roxanne Hicks, 60 of LaGrange and formerly Bronson passed away Sunday, August 1, 2021 at Parkview Regional Medical Center while surrounded by her loving family.
A funeral will take place at 11:00 am on Friday, August 6, 2021 at Dutcher Funeral Home of Coldwater with Reverend Melodie “Kim” Cole of Church of the Holy Spirit officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, August 5, 2021 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm and again Friday morning from 10:00–11:00 am. Cremation will take place after the funeral and a private burial will take place at East Gilead Cemetery. For those who cannot attend in person, the funeral will be webcast on Roxanne’s Dutcher Funeral Home webpage beginning at 10:45 am on Friday.
Roxanne was born December 29, 1960 to Robert and Phyllis (Mudrack) Williams in Fort Wayne. She earned her Associate’s Degree in Early Education from KCC. Roxanne married Terry Hicks on August 28, 1977. He preceded her in death on April 13, 2008. Soon after, she met Terry Paulus and they have been a couple since. Roxanne owned her own daycare specializing in special needs children for 30 years, as well as teaching at Head Start. She had a love of children, and over the years had many Exchange Students and was called “Mom” by many outside her immediate family.
Roxanne was a woman of faith, attending St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bronson. She was involved in many child care organizations, including the Grand Rapids Urban League and the Child Care Alliance. Roxanne was involved with Daughters of the Orland American Legion Auxiliary. She was a part of the Branch County 4-H. Roxanne had many interests including crocheting, reading, baking, and doing puzzles. She enjoyed spending time traveling, camping, and playing games. Roxanne was an avid flower gardener. Her true joy in life was being around her family, especially all the children in her life. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Roxanne is survived by her companion and best friend, Terry Paulus, Sr. of LaGrange, IN; her children Matthew (Bethany) Hicks, Adrian (Martin II) Wells, and Angela (Nathan) Dyer all of Coldwater, Jessica Wilson of Albion, IN, and Terry (Shannon) Paulus, Jr. of Texas; her siblings Robert (Karen Hadfield) Williams of Angola, Rick (Sandy) Williams of Bronson, Wyn (Debbie) Weinberg of Bronson, Rebecca (Jim) Dohr of Tampa, FL, Rhonda (Dan) Fuller of IN, Susan Jacne of Cookville, TN and Cathy (Phillip) Brown of Cookville, TN; her sister-in-law Sue Likens-Williams of Angola; her in-laws Peggy (James) Modert of Sturgis, Patricia Woods of Sturgis, and Dawn Hicks of Coldwater; her grandchildren Ashlee, Jonathan, Jesse, Chance, MaKayla, Emma, Wynter, Wysper, Alyssa, Evan, Zaydyn, Blake, Keyara, Sam, Arabella, Jaxin, Brooklyn, Zkylin, Kolton, Zepplyn, Devin, Danielle, Matthew, Jordan, Kylee, and Alexis; 5 great grandchildren; her aunt Molly Burley; her uncle Robert Mudrack; her good friend Kim Cole; several nieces, nephews, and exchange students. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Terry Hicks; her brother Randy Williams; her brother-in-law’s Paul Woods and Bruce Hicks.
