COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – With the first day of classes scheduled for August 23, Coldwater Community Schools has issued a series of COVID-19 guidelines and mitigation strategies.
The district has posted the latest information on its web site www.coldwaterschools.org
Superintendent Terry Ann Whelan said in a robo call on Sunday that all students over the age of 12 and staff are encouraged to get vaccinated, but vaccination will NOT be required.
She said masks are currently NOT required outside of school buses but that could change.
Current federal policy mandates that masks ARE REQUIRED on school buses.
Whelan is asking for everybody in the community to do their part to make sure students remain in face-to-face learning and not go back to virtual classrooms.
District teachers are being encouraged to promote physical distancing of three feet to the extent possible in the classroom. Parents are being asked if they or their children are sick, then just stay home. Students demonstrating any symptoms will be sent home.
COVID-19 testing is NOT being required for any students or athletes at this time. The district will continue to follow all required contact tracing procedures for any communicable disease as they work in collaboration with the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency.
Love the photo of the ill fitting mask.
