BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The National Weather Service has issued another Heat Advisory for Wednesday afternoon and evening as the forecast indicates another sweltering, steamy day is on tap.
Branch County is included in the advisory area which covers southwest Michigan, portions of northern Indiana and northwest Ohio.
The advisory will be in effect from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Highs are expected to be near 90 with heat index values of 95 to 105 degrees expected.
The hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses to occur.
Residents are reminded to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Do not leave young children and pets unattended in vehicles. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
With the temperature at 87 degrees and the relative humidity at 76 percent, the heat index at the Branch County Memorial Airport hit 101 at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
