COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Because of the massive thunderstorm that ripped through Branch County Thursday morning, leaving extensive damage, and at one point over 75% of homes and businesses without power, Branch County Administrator Bud Norman has announced a state of emergency has been declared.
According to a release from Norman Friday night, “the response and recovery efforts of the County of Branch Emergency Operations Plan have been activated, and local resources are being utilized to the fullest extent possible. Despite these efforts, local resource are not sufficient to cope with the situation.”
“The County is requesting state assistance to supplement local response and recovery efforts: technical assistance, aviation/drone resources, debris removal, repair of damages related to severe wind event, repair or replacement of damaged equipment, and overtime costs for first responders, public works crews, and other employees involved in cleanup activities, funding assistance related to all noninsured public and private properties, and support through the recovery process.”
