Vance Arden Spells, 84, of Union City, passed away Monday, August 16, 2021 at home in the care of Kindred Hospice.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Youngs Cemetery in Battle Creek. Visitation will be held just prior to the service, from 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.August 21, 2021 at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City.
Vance was born April 19, 1937 in Marshall, Michigan to Fay and Charlotte Spells. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. After returning home, he worked for General Foods, where he painted and performed facility maintenance. Vance enjoyed fishing, camping, showing horses, building homes with his son, and above all, spending time with his family and going out to eat.
Vance is survived by his wife, Marjorie Spells of Union City; children: Teresa Dilno of Clyde, TX, Balinda Wood of Battle Creek and Brian Spells of Battle Creek; grandson, Marshall Dilno; siblings, Lyndon (Peggy) Spells of Battle Creek and Betty Hardy of Olivet; and many fur babies.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald Spells and Larry Dornin; and a sister, Doris Bradford.
