COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater BPU Director Jeff Budd says numerous people pitched in after two devastating storms knocked out power to roughly 1,650 CBPU customers last week.
All CBPU electric customers that lost power had their services restored by Saturday afternoon.
Budd said in a statement, “I am pleased with the progress that we made, especially in meeting restoration expectations, considering the extensive damage that our community suffered. Our Electric Superintendent, John Springhall, deserves recognition, as do all of our Electric Department employees and other CBPU Department employees who had a role in restoring power to our customers. In addition to those staff who play a direct role in power restoration, many others are involved in supportive and logistical functions. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes. I thank those employees, too. I am very, very proud of our entire CBPU team.”
The CBPU would like to recognize and thank their partners in public power from Ohio and Michigan for their assistance.
Additionally, the CBPU would like to recognize the Department of Municipal Services, the City of Bronson, Thompson Excavating, and their contractual tree trimming crews for their continued effort in clearing brush, limbs, and other debris. Without their work, restoration would have been impossible.
Citizens should note that brush pickup is underway but may take weeks (or until the first Monday of next month) before everything is done.
The CBPU is also thanking Coldwater citizens for their patience and understanding as crews worked diligently on clean-up.
