COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County is approaching 5,000 COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic in March of 2020 thanks to the recent spread of the highly contagious Delta variant.
The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency reported 22 new cases of the virus in Branch County in its latest report on Wednesday which brought the total number of COVID-19 cases reported this week up to 55.
This after 93 new cases were reported in Branch County between August 7 and 14.
In addition, there have been 333 cases reported in Branch County since July 18.
According to statistics provided by the Community Health Agency, there have been 4,921 COVID-19 cases in Branch County with 97 deaths attributed to the virus since the start of the pandemic. The last death reported by the Health Agency in Branch County was in late June.
Hillsdale County has had 4,225 cases and 95 deaths while St. Joseph County has had 5,766 cases and 103 deaths.
