BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – It was a hot and sweaty volleyball season opener for the Bronson, Union City and Quincy squads as they all competed on Saturday at the Carrie Adams Memorial Invitational hosted by Battle Creek St. Philip at the Battle Creek Y-Center.
Bronson went 3-1 as they swept Hillsdale, Climax-Scotts and Eaton Rapids in pool play before losing to Centreville in the Gold Bracket quarterfinals.
Quincy went 2-2. The Orioles defeated Kalamazoo Central and Garden City but lost to Athens in pool play. Athens eventually won the tournament. Quincy was beaten by Kalamazoo Central in the Silver Bracket.
Union City went 2-3 on the day. The Chargers ended up being placed in the Silver Bracket after pool play and lost in the semi finals to Kalamazoo Central.

Kassandra Kohsman led the Chargers with 25 digs, 15 kills and six aces while Megann Russell had three blocks and Alida Wilkinson had 27 assists.
