Charles L. “Junior” Sparks Jr., 67, of Howell, died August 24, 2021, peacefully surrounded by his family at Ascension Providence Hospital in Novi.
Junior was born on November 12, 1953, in Peru, Indiana, to Charles L. and Bobbie Jean (Spencer) Sparks. He graduated from Coldwater High School in 1971.
He married Robin Peltier and together they had two children, Charles L. Sparks III and Jeremy Sparks. He later married Tami Fickle and together they had two children, Laree and Cayden.
Charlie was an avid Musician playing throughout Branch County and even getting international playing time in Canada with his band “Blind Man’s Bluff”. His band mates gave him the nickname of the “Rock n’ Roll Minister”. Although he tried to make music his career, Junior worked for the Pepsi Cola Company for many years, and after he retired, he went on to sell insurance in three states.
Junior loved to play music especially with his dad in church on Sunday Mornings. He was an avid golfer teaching his children the love for the sport. Junior loved to go picking for antiques, watching auto racing, and traveling to the UP to hunt.
He is survived by his children, Lenny (Hanie) Sparks, Jeremy (Kate) Sparks, Laree Sparks, and Cayden (Megan) Sparks; three grandchildren Eliza, Izzy, and Josie; father Reverend Charles Sparks; siblings Gloria (Halbert Lynn) Brown, Sherrie (Phil) Damon, and Donna Sprague.
He was preceded in death by his mother Bobbie Jean Sparks in 2018, and nephew David Damon in 1998.
Family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Monday August 30, 2021, at the Fredonia Holiness Church, 10600 13 ½ Mile Road Marshall MI 49068.
A private service for family following along with private interment will take place at Houston Cemetery.
