COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The lights went out on the Coldwater Cardinals Thursday night.
The Cardinal Field lights going out at start of the fourth quarter pretty much summed up the night for the Cardinals as they dropped their 2021 opener to the Grand Ledge Comets 36-14.
Grand Ledge built a 30-0 lead as Comets quarterback Jeff Kolb threw three touchdown passes. The Cardinals got both of their touchdowns in the final two minutes of the first half on a 18 yard touchdown by Cameron Torres and a 10 yard touchdown pass from Aiden Marsden to Hunter Munson.
Grand Ledge had a 456-220 edge in total yards which included 274 yards on the ground. Torres had 16 carries for 71 yards and had 102 all purpose yards for the Cardinals.
