BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Week 1 of the 2021 high school football season continued Friday night, and following Coldwater’s loss to Grand Ledge on Thursday, Branch County’s other 11-player teams were a combined 0-for 3 in their respective season openers.
Quincy lost to Sand Creek 46-14 as the visiting Aggies piled up 400 yards of total offense compared to the Orioles’ 272. Garrett Wilson had 262 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns for Sand Creek, while Quincy had a total of 232 rushing yards as a team. Landen Kelley had both Oriole touchdowns on runs of 11 yards and 1 yard; he finished with 66 yards on 16 carries, while TreVon Bodley had a team-high 106 yards on 18 attempts.
Elsewhere, Bronson dropped a 36-22 decision to Prairie Heights at Charles Hilton Field, and Union City fell at Constantine 42-13. Next Thursday, Bronson will host Springport, while Union City visits Quincy.
In 8-player football, Tekonsha won at Litchfield 40-0. Quarterback Wyatt Blashfield threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more; he finished with 263 all-purpose yards.
