BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson Vikings improved to 7-1 as they won the Bronson Mini Invite on Saturday. The Vikings defeated Vicksburg 25-8, 25-13 and Manchester 25-22, 22-25, 15-9 in pool play. Because of the heat, the crossover match was skipped and the teams went right into single elimination. Coaches were concerned about the conditions of the floor.
Bronson defeated Brandywine 25-19, 25-16 in the semifinals and then knocked off Edwardsburg in the finals 23-25, 25-19, 15-10.
Karissa Gest led the Vikings in kills with 37. Kaylee Withington had 34 digs, Brealyn Lasky recorded 96 assists, Kaylee Withington had nine aces and Aubree Calloway had nine blocks.
Bronson Coach Jean LaClair said, “We were definitely better than last week, Brealyn ran a more consistent offense, and we are learning where we need to go and what we need to do to be more consistent. I was very proud that we continued to fight and improve throughout the day. Can’t wait to get back into the gym and continue to learn and progress.”
The Vikings will be at the Temperance Bedford Invite on Friday.
