TEKONSHA, MI (WTVB) – Parents of fourth and fifth graders in the Tekonsha Community School district are being told by school officials to keep them home on Tuesday after they learned of two students in those grades who are positive for COVID-19.
The Tekonsha School administration is working with the Calhoun County Public Health Department and contact tracing has begun. They say more information will be relayed as it becomes available.
Meanwhile, Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility and Rehabilitation Administrator Jayne Sabaitis says they have had four more residents test positive for COVID-19. Due to this, Maple Lawn will be stopping all in person visitations at this time.
Sabaitis says visits will be stopped until they meet the criteria to discontinue outbreak testing which is 14 days with no positive tests.
In addition, group dining and activities will be discontinued at this time to help mitigate further spread.
Any visits will be able to be done as window visits or virtual visits. Maple Lawn is strongly discouraging taking residents out of the facility at this time if it is not for a medical appointment.
