Douglas C. McMichael, 72, of Quincy, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.
Doug was born March 5, 1949 in Coldwater, MI to Dallas & Margie (Lawrence) McMichael. He married Carol Worden on July 4, 1967 in Quincy, MI.
Mr. McMichael was part owner and plant manager of Kasco Abrasives for 44 years. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed making custom golf clubs at Kasco for several years.
Doug was a member of East Ovid United Brethren Church, Coldwater Eagles and the Chamber of Commerce. He served many years with the Branch Co. Sheriff Department Reserves and was active, along with his children in 4H. Doug enjoyed racing sprint cars at Butler Speedway in earlier years was an avid bowler on several leagues, proud of scoring seven perfect games.
He loved music, playing his guitar and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Doug was a skilled woodworker, crafting many beautiful items. Above all, he was a devoted family man. His time spent with family was his greatest joy.
Doug is survived by his wife Carol, his children Tammy (Gary) Gay of St. Johns, Mellissa (Brian) Connin of Quincy, Amber (Mike) Neely of Coldwater, his siblings Louise (Dennis) Higbee of Quincy, Norman (Donna) McMichael of Coldwater, his grandchildren Derek (Lacey Fegan) Williams, Brock (Tammy) Williams, Dylan (Mandy Kingsbury) Williams, Dallas (Corissa) Connin, Dalton (Carlee Larimer) Connin, Brandt Neely, Belle Neely, Tyler Gay, Joellen Gay; great grandchildren Easton Williams and Abigail Williams.
He was preceded in death by both parents and brothers and sisters Cliff (Marge) McMichael, Delores (Ron) Fenske and Lonnie McMichael.
