BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater girls volleyball team dropped their Interstate 8 Conference opening match of the season on Wednesday night as they lost at Harper Creek three games to nothing by scores of 14-25, 15-25, 23-25.
Coach Kelsey Closson said, “Tonight we did not play Coldwater Volleyball. We struggled with serve receive which is something if you would have asked me before this match, I would have said it was one of our strengths. The last time we played Harper Creek, we played fearlessly and aggressively and we took the win because of that. Tonight was a different story for us. But, like I told the team, tomorrow is a new day and we go back to the gym to work even harder. We are a young team who is eager to learn as much as possible. I couldn’t ask for anything more.”
Allison Miller led the team offensively with 6 aces, 7 kills, and added 7 digs
Ellianna Foley led in assists with 15 as well as digs with 16 and added 3 kills
Violet Waltke added 13 digs
Mackenzie Scheid had 6 kills, 8 digs, and 2 block kills
The Varsity Volleyball team plays again on Saturday at the 5th Annual Macayla Kohn Memorial Volleyball Tournament at Caledonia High School.
