BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Administrator Bud Norman says coverage testing for the new 911 Communications system will be conducted throughout Branch County between September 29 and October 9.
He said during last week’s Branch County 911 Communications Board meeting they want to get the coverage testing done by the middle of October while leaves are still on the trees.
There maybe county vehicles in your area including a couple from the Sheriff’s Department during the testing.
Norman says those vehicles maybe moving slower than normal. Branch County officials were generally pleased with testing back in June at J and K Communications in Columbia City, Indiana on the new equipment which will be part of the county’s $9.3 million 911 Communications Project.
The Branch County 911 project is designed to improve signals and communications for police, firefighters and rescue crews. Branch County voters approved a phone surcharge last November to help fund the project. If everything goes according to plan, the new radio system is expected to be fully operational in early 2022.
