COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Sherwood man was formally charged with two counts of second degree criminal sexual conduct on Tuesday in Branch County District Court in connection with alleged crimes involving two girls under the age of 13.
53-year-old Daniel D. Collins was arrested and charged by prosecutors following a Branch County Sheriff’s Department investigation into the alleged incidents which according to court documents took place in Sherwood Township on March 12, 2021.
Collins waived the formal reading of the charges during his arraignment in front of Judge Brent Weigle and the public defenders office was assigned to the cases. Not guilty pleas were entered on both charges.
A cash or surety bond was set at $30,000. If he should post bond, Collins was ordered not to have contact with the alleged victims and he is to have no unsupervised contact with any minor child.
A probable cause hearing was scheduled for September 30 with a preliminary exam set for October 7.
