BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Your rain gauge maybe different but the Michigan State University Extension Service weather station at the Bloom Dairy Farm west of Coldwater has measured over three-and-a-half inches of rain between Tuesday evening and Thursday morning.
After a tenth of an inch was measured on Tuesday night, a total of 1.65 inches was measured at that location on Wednesday.
Thursday’s rainfall total has surpassed that. Between midnight and 10:00 a.m. on Thursday morning, the weather station measured 1.77 inches of rain.
As of 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, rain had been recorded at that weather station for 19 straight hours.
A National Weather Service observer near Osseo in Hillsdale County has measured over four inches of rain in the last three days.
The soggy weather is due to a storm system that strengthened across the region Tuesday night and Wednesday.
While a flood watch was issued, the recent dry conditions limited the overall flood threat.
The rain is expected to taper off on Thursday with the forecast calling for a return of sunshine on Friday.
