PARMA, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals saw their three game winning streak come to an end on Friday night as they lost at Parma Western 13-7 in a hard fought Interstate 8 Conference contest.
The Cardinals had won ten straight against the Panthers over the years but since 2017, Parma Western has beaten Coldwater in three of the last four games played.
After a scoreless first half, Caden Oliver’s six yard touchdown with 2:45 left in the third quarter gave Parma a 7-0 lead. The Cardinals tied the game with 10:25 left in regulation on a 42 yard fumble return by Cam Torres.
Oliver put the Panthers back on top with 7:16 left with a eight yard touchdown. The Cardinals had a chance to tie or take the lead with less than two minutes to go but were stopped on a fourth-and-goal at the four.
Tyson Roby had 65 yards rushing for the Cardinals. The Panthers had a 289-212 edge in total yards. Cole Barker led the Coldwater defense with seven tackles.
Coldwater drops to 3-3 overall and 3-2 in the Interstate 8. They host Harper Creek next Friday in the Cardinals Homecoming game.
