ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – A 24-year-old Georgia man was taken into custody Friday morning by the Saint Joseph County Sheriff’s Department in connection with the theft of two vehicles.
Sheriff Mark Lillywhite says deputies responded to a Motor Vehicle Theft in Progress in the 61000 block of Klinger Lake Road. One of the victims discovered his car being stolen just before 1:00 a.m. and followed the car, helping deputies to locate and apprehend the subject.
After the subject was in custody, Lillywhite says department deputies discovered the subject had stolen another vehicle from Centreville and crashed it nearby on Klinger Lake Road.
The Georgia man was being held on Friday on two counts of Unauthorized Driving Away of an Automobile, Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicle, Operating Under the Influence of Drugs, Driving with No License and Open Intoxicants in a Motor Vehicle.
