BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The soggy fall is not only hampering harvest plans but is turning Branch County into a gigantic sponge.
Friday’s heavy rainfall marked the ninth day out of the last 18 that rain has been measured in Branch County.
The Michigan State University Extension Service’s weather station at the Bloom Dairy Farm measured 1.7 inches of rain in just four hours on Friday morning between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.. That includes 1.23 inches measured in one hour between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m..
Friday’s rain brought the total amount at that location since October 1 up to 2.96 inches. A total of 6.85 inches of rain has been measured there since September 22.
