BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson City Council approved for signature on Monday night a declaration of restricted covenant that has been submitted by the E.P.A. and the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy for the LA Darling properties.
Bronson City Manager Brandon Mersman says the covenant would restrict six activities on the two parcels.
Also prohibited would be any excavation or other disturbance of the soil that could result in unacceptable human exposure to contaminated soil. The document also prohibits all construction of new structure or any modification of existing structures, unless the building or structure is an establishment used and classified for manufacturing.
The construction and the use of wells or other device to extract groundwater for consumption, irrigation or any other use is also prohibited.
The approval of the covenant was a requirement of the City’s settlement with the EPA.
