COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners appointed two members to the County Board of Canvassers during their meeting on Tuesday.
One person from the Republican Party and one person from the Democratic Party were selected by each Commissioner in a roll call vote from the list of candidates provided by each party.
Every Commissioner selected Democrat Vicky Hargrove to serve another four year term. The other Democratic nominees were Hillary Raymond and Amaryllis Thomas.
Former County Commissioner Don Vrablic was named from the Republican list to the Board of Canvassers as he picked up four of the five votes. Pat Sampsel, whose four-year term was expiring, got the other vote. Chance Murdock was the third G.O.P. candidate.
The four person board is made up of two Republicans and two Democrats.
They are responsible for canvassing and certifying primaries and elections held in the county. They are also responsible for conducting recounts and for resolving any claims that malfunctioning voting equipment or defective ballots may have affected the outcome of an election.
