NOTTAWA TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A pair of what are being called suspicious fires that broke out early Friday morning near Nottawa are being investigated by the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department.
Sheriff Mark Lillywhite reports the fires were reported at around 1:00 a.m. in the 60000 block of Railroad Street in Nottawa Township.
Deputies arrived on the scene to find two shed type structures fully engulfed in flames. They found a third structure with materials to start a fire but that attempt failed.
There’s no report on the extent of damage or what type of property may have been inside those buildings.
The Centreville Fire Department was called in to battle the flames. The Sturgis Police Department also assisted deputies.
Anyone with information regarding this incident or who may have seen suspicious activity in the area should contact the St Joseph County Sheriff’s Department.
