STURGIS, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater, Bronson and Quincy cross country teams competed on Saturday at the Sturgis Invitational.
In the boys race overall standings, Coldwater was third, Bronson finished fourth and Quincy was tenth in the 13 team field.
Coldwater’s John Aerts and Myron Lafty both broke the 17:00 barrier. Aerts ran his all-time best of 16:41.4 as he was second. Lafty was sixth as he was under 17:00 for the first time, recording a time of 16:57.5.
Rhett Reif of Quincy was seventh. He along with teammate Caden Troxtle earned medals in Division Three and Four. Bronson’s Ashton Wells was 16th and Reagan Mayer was 18th.
The Coldwater girls won the runner-up trophy in the Division Two competition and were fourth overall. Quincy was third overall and earned a trophy with a second place finish in Division Three.
Bronson’s Sidney Swick was fourth, Legend Szafranski was 12th and Lainey Yearling was 15th. Quincy’s Charlotte Crabbs was 22nd and Sadie Miller was 23rd. Crabbs, Miller, Elise Wright, Karley Allman, Libby Butchart and Mollie Butchart all earned medals for Quincy in Division Three and Four.
