COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – With a recent audit showing an additional one million dollars in the county’s fund balance, the Branch County Board of Commissioners on Thursday brought forward to next week’s meeting a proposal from County Administrator Bud Norman that would give most county employees a 7.6% pay raise for 2022.
Norman presented several options to the Commissioners and acknowledged the problem of hiring and keeping employees.
He said during a Power Point presentation the audit showed the county’s fund balance was up to 27%, which is well above the recommended level.
Forty-five percent of the additional fund balance would go to the Sheriff’s Department to be spent as they see fit.
Union positions would not be included until a letter of understanding is worked out with the county.
Formal action by Commissioners is scheduled to take place next Tuesday.
