JACKSON, MI (WTVB) – Bronson won the M.H.S.A.A. boys cross country Division Three regional #23 title and qualified for the State Finals at Michigan International Speedway as a team on Friday at Ella Sharp Park in Jackson.
The Vikings had 66 points to finish first followed by Hudson with 104 and Hanover-Horton with 113. Quincy finished 11th in the team standings while Union City was 14th.
Bronson was paced by Ashton Wells who was fifth in a time of 17:32.4. Reagan Mayer was eighth, Aden Hathaway was 11th, Tanner Norton was 18th and Brayden Ransbottom was 24th.
Quincy’s Rhett Reif qualified for the state finals as a individual as he was second in a time of 16:45.8. Reif was eight seconds behind Hanover-Horton’s Rogan Melling for the top spot.
Union City’s Jason Shoop was 49th in a time of 19:52.8.
In the M.H.S.A.A. Division 3 girls cross country regional meet in Jackson, Bronson’s Sidney Swick finished 13th in a time of 21:40.8 and qualified for the State Finals at Michigan International Speedway as a individual.
Union City’s Skyler Fraley was 19th in a time of 22:10.7.
Charlotte Crabbs was the top Quincy finisher as she was in 23rd place with a time of 22:30.2.
Quincy was seventh in the team standings. Bronson and Union City did not have enough runners for team scores.
Jackson Lumen Christi won the girl’s title with 46 points. Onsted was second with 76 points and Leslie was third with 133 points.
Tekonsha/Marshall Academy co-op will send two individuals to Michigan International Speedway for the Division Four Finals. Marco Barron finished fifth at the boys regional meet in Portage on Friday with a time of 18:11.9. Dani VanLente also advanced with a third place in a time of 20:52.2 at the girls regional meet in Portage.
