COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – BlueOx Credit Union Coldwater Branch Manager Drew Boucher will be taking part in “One Night Without a Home” on Tuesday night. This is a Coldwater community event in which volunteers will meet outside of the Coach Eby Youth and Family Center and sleep in cardboard boxes from 7:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. to help bring awareness around homelessness.
Boucher says, “’The homeless,’ as an abstract, is far easier to walk past and ignore than the reality of too-thin children or forgotten veterans shivering in the cold. To be able to shake their hand and let them know that they are not forgotten, and that they have value, and can have hope for a better life means the world to me. We can do better, and I know that we will.”
Individuals can make in-kind donations to this cause by visiting FamilyPromise.org/donate.
Additionally, “One Night Without a Home” is a part of the collective event “A Day to Help the Homeless” where the Coldwater community will also be getting together to giveaway soup dinners in bowls decorated by students. Meals will be available for takeout from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and delivered from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
