COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The timeline for moving inmates from the current Branch County Jail to the recently finished new jail building is getting closer to being finalized as 2022 approaches.
Branch County Administrator Bud Norman spoke this week to the Coldwater Noon Rotary Club providing an update on the 28-million dollar jail project for which ground was broken in October of 2019.
Regarding the transfer of prisoners, Norman told the Rotarians…
Norman said demolition of the old jail located to the south of the new facility is set for next fall.
According to Norman, summer is a busy time for school demolitions so clearing the property of the jail in the autumn of 2022 will lower the cost of tearing down the building.
