COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The cases of a Sherwood man who is facing two counts of second degree criminal sexual conduct in connection with alleged crimes involving two girls under the age of 13 have been bound over to Branch County Circuit Court.
During a Branch County District Court probable cause hearing on Tuesday, 53-year-old Daniel D. Collins waved his preliminary exam which was scheduled for next week.
It was indicated during the hearing that Prosecutors have made a plea offer to the defendant that would be available through the first scheduled pre-trial conference in Circuit Court. Details of the plea offer were not revealed during Tuesday’s hearing.
Collins is scheduled to appear for a Circuit Court arraignment on November 22. Bond was continued at $60,000.
Collins was arrested and charged following a Branch County Sheriff’s Department investigation into the alleged incidents which according to court documents took place in Sherwood Township on March 12, 2021.
Not guilty pleas have been entered on behalf of Collins to both charges.
