COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners formally approved an additional funding request on Tuesday from the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency.
The Health Agency requested an increase to the per capita amount Branch County pays. The current amount is $5.02 per person and they wanted it increased to $5.15 per person. This does not include the prison population. The Health Agency has had to make significant cuts in previous years and costs keep going up. This is the same amount that Hillsdale County and St. Joseph County will pay.
Additional funding requests from the Prosecutors Office and M.S.U. Extension have been put on hold for now by the Commissioners.
In other business during a routine 13 minute meeting, the Commissioners approved the 2022 Michigan Indigent Defense Commission budget. The 2022 budget has been approved at the State level. The amount of money the County is contributing has not changed. Any increases are paid by the State.
