BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The first snow of the season fell in Branch County on Saturday morning which led to some slick driving conditions for those who had to be out.
Luckily, the snow took place on a weekend morning when the traffic was lighter than during the week.
The snow moved in just before 3:00 a.m. Saturday morning and there were times it was intense enough to reduce the visibility at the Branch County Memorial Airport to less than a mile.
National Weather Service forecasters say lake effect snow showers will persist Saturday morning, mainly along and north of the Indiana Toll Road with some locations maybe seeing additional accumulations up to an inch.
A fast moving system is expected to arrive late Saturday night and linger into Sunday. It’s expected to bring with it a period of light snow for the area.
Accumulations are expected to be on the light side with this system, but many locations should see up to an inch of snow by mid-morning Sunday.
There is a potential for slightly higher amounts depending on the timing of the transition to a rain and snow mix.
