COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – After over two years of discussion which included the city hiring a consultant, the Coldwater Planning Commission approved a draft of proposed changes to the city’s landscaping ordinance on Monday night.
City Planner Dean Walrack said the changes were drafted to provide more clarity and direction on the City’s development expectations and to provide for some relief from standards which have been out-of-scale with other requirements or difficult to administer.
According to Walrack, the draft also provides a framework by which an applicant may propose an alternative plan for the Planning Commission to review.
Planning Commission member Dave Rumsey cast the only no vote.
But fellow Planning Commission member Jessika Cole felt it was time to take action.
The approved draft will come back to the Planning Commission in the form of an ordinance for next month’s meeting. The ordinance would also have to be approved by the City Council.
