COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency announced on Monday they are offering all manufacturer’s vaccine booster doses to all residents 18 and older.
The agency said this is based on a new recommendation from the Centers for Disease Control.
Those who received a Pfizer or Moderna vaccine as their primary vaccine with the second dose being at least six months ago are eligible for a booster dose.
Those who are 18 and over who received a single dose J&J (Janssen) vaccine as their primary vaccine, at least two months ago, should receive a booster dose.
Health Officer Rebecca Burns says, “Michigan is again experiencing a surge in COVID cases. The current positivity rate is 26.9% in Branch County, 31% in Hillsdale County, and 27.3% in St. Joseph County. Our area hospitals continue to report the patients who are cared for in the Intensive Care Units are nearly always unvaccinated. There were 13 COVID related deaths in the area from November 10 through 17 with two in Branch County, seven in Hillsdale County, and four in St. Joseph County. Vaccination continues to be our best protection strategy against severe COVID illness and death,”
Eligible individuals may choose which vaccine they receive as a booster dose. Some people may have preference for the vaccine type that they originally received, and others may prefer to get a different booster.
