KALAMAZOO, MI (WTVB) – A Quincy, Michigan man was sentenced to a prison term of 30 to 75 years Monday in Kalamazoo County Circuit Court after he was convicted by a jury in October on six sex crime charges.
30-year-old Peter Farris Casey was charged following an investigation into his online activity by the Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force which is located in Coldwater.
Casey was found guilty of first degree criminal sexual conduct and second-degree criminal sexual conduct. The victim in both counts is under the age of 13.
He was also convicted of aggravated sexual abuse on a child, possession of sexually abusive material involving a child, using a computer to commit a crime and using the internet to communicate a crime with another.
Judge Gary Giguere Junior said during the sentencing hearing that the defendant was “not entitled to live in a civilized society.” He added this was some of the most horrific and disturbing testimony and evidence he has ever had to watch and assess in his 29 years of criminal law.
The Task Force Office in Coldwater says the arrest took place after they followed up on a National Center for Missing & Exploited Children tip involving Facebook activity and the alleged creation and sharing of child sexually abusive material between Casey and his girlfriend Shannon Moore of Kalamazoo.
Moore was arrested last May. WWMT-TV reports she was given a 35 year prison sentence after entering guilty pleas to three charges of criminal sexual conduct.
