UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – Santa Claus is coming to Union City on Saturday night. The Annual Union City Santa Parade sponsored each year by the Union City Chamber of Commerce starts at 7:00 p.m.
Following the parade, Santa will be under the Dome at the corner of Broadway and Hammond to visit with children and their families. Children can get their picture taken with Santa and the snapshot will be posted on a bulletin board in the lobby at the Southern Michigan Bank and Trust office in Union City for pick up at the end of the following week.
Parade participants may begin lining up at 6:00 p.m. at Robbins Auto for vehicles, floats, tractors, horse drawn entries or other wheeled entries. Those walking in the parade must join in from the new Union City Senior Center and should be in place by 7:00 p.m.. Walkers will enter the parade immediately following the Union City Police Department escort. The parade will continue through downtown Union City and will end at High Street.
The Chamber of Commerce is encouraging parade participants to put safety first, especially as this parade commences after dark. Parents are asked to keep a close eye on their children and keep them near to the curb and out of the street.
Those watching the parade are asked not to park downtown after 6 P.M. to allow for safety concerns and ease of visibility. Traffic cones will be placed downtown and citizens are asked to please respect these boundaries.
