Don Allen Hirschy, Sr., 68, of Sturgis passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Three Rivers Health.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Pleasant Hill Missionary Church in Bronson with Pastor Terry Siler of the First Congregational Church officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday, December 6, 2021 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Don was born December 23, 1952 to Elton and Gladys (Summey) Hirschy in Sturgis.
He was a member of the Bronson High School Class of 1972. Don was a hardworking man, spending many years as a truck driver. Most recently he delivered propane for Amerigas of Three Rivers before retiring.
Don was a man of many interests. In his early years he raced stock cars. He enjoyed building cars and trailers in his garage. Don was never far from his John Deere tractors. He had a fondness of animals, especially dogs & cats. Don was very ambitious and a busy body, never wanting to have an idle moment during his waking hours.
Sunday morning breakfast with his entire family was one of his biggest joys in life. He will be remembered for his generosity and willingness to help anyone in need as well as being a fun man to be around. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Don is survived by his children Amy Nealis, Don Hirschy, Jr., Renee (Josh) Tillmon, and Damien (Ashley) Clark; his brothers DeLayne (Carroll), LaWayne “Bud” (Pauline), and Vernon (Sandy) Hirschy; his sister-in-law Bonnie Hirschy; his grandchildren Haley & Blake Tillmon, McKenna (Patrick) Huffstutter, Madison (Jack) Leitch, Mitchell Bowdish, Alex & Jessica Pollard, Mia, DJ, and Cash Clark; his great grandchildren Corbin, Mia, and Ozlynn; his best friend Eldon Schrader; many nieces & nephews; and his cat “Peanut”.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Leslie Hirschy; his sister Anola Rodgers; and his sister-in-law Kay Hirschy.
