Jacob F. Stefanski, Jr., 97, of Bronson, passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, December 13, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary of Assumption Church in Bronson with Rev. Fr. Dan Hyman officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Sunday, December 12, 2021 from 2:00-7:00 p.m. with the Rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m., at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson. Masks will be required for both services at the funeral home and St. Mary’s Church.
Jake was born September 16, 1924 in Bronson, MI to Jacob & Anna (Johnson) Stefanski, Sr. He served as a sergeant in the US Army during WWII. He was stationed at Clark Field in the Philippines. Jake married Mildred “Millie” Kowalski on October 9, 1948 in Coldwater. She preceded him in death on June 15, 2013.
Jake was a lifelong farmer, owning and operating his family farm which he loved. He hauled grain for neighboring farmers. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church, a charter member of the Knights of Columbus and bowled on their league. Jake was a member of the Bronson American Legion, UCT, Bronson Dance Club, attended numerous Veteran’s schools and had served on the Bronson Township Board.
He enjoyed playing cards, camping and traveling to Florida. Jake was a loving husband, a great family man, and a devoted father to all of his daughters; his grandkids just adored and loved him.
Jake is survived by his daughters Linda (Charles) Green, Sue (Pete) Wielgos, Debbie (John) Wielgos all of Bronson, Janice (Monty) Rubley of East Leroy and Janet (Larry) Sikorski also of Bronson; grandchildren, James Green, Amy (Zuheir Shahwan) Green, Heather (Thai Checel) Wielgos, Corey (Asif) Shah, Allison (Drew) Callison, Mariah (Tristan) Foster, Elizabeth (Keaton Foster) Wielgos, Scotty Rubley, Shawn Rubley, Valerie(Lucas Jenkins) Rubley, Vicki (Chaz) Wilkey, Craig (Kelsie)Sikorski; great-grandchildren Oliver and Emma Shahwan, Mina Loy and Gus Checel, Gracen and Rowan Callison, Parker Foster, Beckett Sikorski and Jamison Wilkey and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother Clifford Stefanski, sisters and brothers-in-law Mary Jane Stefanski, Cecelia (Edward) Kruszka and James Morgan. He will be greatly missed by his canine companion, Lucky.
