COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The mustache worn by Coldwater Deputy Police Chief Patrick Beeman for many years was shaved off on Tuesday as part of a fund raising effort to help out a pair of local charities during the holiday season.
“Operation Mustache Removal” raised a total of $2,500 which will be split between Family Promise and the Branch Area Food Pantry.
Family Promise is a non-profit that assists homeless women, children and families in the Coldwater area while the Food Pantry assists people in need of food.
Beeman said he would shave off his mustache if he could raise $1,000 for the charities by Tuesday.
Cisco Ortiz earned the honor of operating the electric razor by collecting the most money.
It only took a couple of minutes before Beeman was clean shaven.
The shaving of Beeman’s mustache was streamed live on the Coldwater Police and Fire Department Facebook page.
