BRONSON, MI (WTVB) -A longtime Bronson firefighter is featured in a video that has been posted on the fire department’s Facebook page.
Assistant Chief Ken Stutzman has served the Bronson Fire Department since 1967.
Nancy Stutzman said in the video produced by Rhino Media of Kalamazoo just how proud she is of her husband.
When he was honored for his 50 years of service in 2017, Nancy Stutzman said he became a volunteer firefighter almost by accident.
His wife wrote that one day in 1966, Bronson Specialities co-worker and volunteer firefighter Lyle Modert asked Stutzman to fill in for him for a weekend as he and his family went up north.
After Modert assured Stutzman that it was unlikely they would have a fire, the fire whistle was sounded that Saturday morning which started Stutzman’s long career with the Bronson Fire Department.
Rhino Media also produced a video for the Bronson Fire Department last May to help with recruiting future firefighters.
