GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals passed a big non-conference test on Monday night as they defeated Forest Hills Northern 62-43 at the Cornerstone Holiday Tournament. The Cardinals improved to 3-0 as nine players got into the score book.
After building a 29-17 lead at the half, the Cardinals put the game away in the third quarter when they outscored Northern 13-2.
Coldwater Coach Aaron Bucklin said it’s not the first time they’ve had a strong defensive quarter.
Brandon Downs led Coldwater with 19 points. He also had seven steals.
Ethan Crabtree recorded a double-double with 13 points, 13 rebounds and four assists.
Evan Sloan and Donte Work each had eight points. Work also grabbed eight rebounds while Sloan had six boards.

The Cardinals are off until next Tuesday night when they’ll play at Okemos.
Also in boys basketball, Bronson plays at Bellevue on Tuesday night.
